Filters
Rain Filters provide extra confidence in your rainwater quality by filtering sediment, colour and odour from rainwater. There are two types of rainwater filter available;
- the first is a fine filtration system ideal for systems where rainwater is used inside the home
- the second is a sediment control system that is ideal for water tanks that supply water for outside use only.
The Rainwater Harvesting range of filters covers all requirements from sediment control through to fine filtration for use inside the home.

How rainwater filters work to give you clean rainwater inside your home
Rainwater filters improve the quality of the rainwater delivered into your home:
- rainwater should first be filtered through pre-filtration devices (such as first flush diverters and rain heads) before it enters your rainwater tank
- the rainwater filter should be installed after your pump and before the tap or water outlet
- when the pump switches on, it forces the rainwater through the pleated membrane media of the rain water filter cartridge
- the membrane media filters out any debris (measured in microns) that is in the rain water
- when the cartridge becomes fully loaded with debris it should be replaced. As it becomes fully loaded the flow rate will reduce (less water will flow through it)
Which rain water filter is best for me?
The best rain water filter for you depends on the primary use of the water. If the rain water is being used inside the home then you should use one of the triple action rain water filters. If you are using the water outside the home (for example, to water your garden) then you should use a sediment filter.
You can use the following table to help you select the right rain water filter for you.
