  Polyethylene water tanks (poly or plastic water tanks) will always have some degree of flex in them. The potential for flexing is greater for poly slimline water tanks than poly round water tanks. This is important if you are placing a slimline tank close to a home, structure or a fence. Water tanks should never touch any building structure.

  Traditional steel tanks used exposed steel internally that the water would come directly into contact with. Bluescope® steel Aquaplate® uses a food grade polymer lining on the inside which ensures that the water is only ever in contact with the food grade lining. This means that the tank water is never directly in contact with the steel tank (reduced risk of corrosion) and that water quality is improved (by not being in direct contact with the steel tank).

• Maximise storage for Water Tank Footprint
  When compared with poly slimline water tanks, steel slimline water tanks store more water for the same footprint. This is because the strength of slimline poly tanks comes from the design that incorporates internal plastic "walls". So if you have limited space and you want to maximise your storage, a steel slimline water tank will do that for you.

  Research involving the Bushfire CRC (co-operative Research Centre ) and the CSIRO has shown that different types of water tanks may play an important role in defending houses against bushfires.
