Rainwater Harvesting and Re-use: Third Round Grants Applications now open

The third round of rain water harvesting and reuse grants under the National Urban Water and Desalination Plan: stormwater harvesting and reuse grants round is now open. This scheme is provided and managed by the Australian Government with the objective to provide funding support for projects that capture, treat and use stormwater to ease the pressure on drinking water supplies and deliver improved water quality to Australia’s urban waterways.

The scheme is for larger projects with a minimum project size of $2 million with no upper project cost limit. Potential funding is capped at 50% of the project cost (ie minimum funding of $1 million) with the maximum grant amount set at $20 million.

The funding is designed to encourage and support stormwater harvesting and reuse projects that use urban stormwater to reduce demand on potable water supplies and deliver improved water quality urban waterways. Urban stormwater is defined as "rainwater that runs off urban impervious surfaces such as roofs, pavements, car parks and roads".

Applications must be lodged by 7 December 2011 and works must be completed by 30 June 2016.
