First flush devices are now available in larger diameter pipes allowing for either greater capacity first flushes, or alternatively, shorter first flush pipes. The short length of the first flush diverter can be compensated for by the greater diameter of the pipe used.
A larger diameter (and usually larger capacity) first flush device will most likely mean more water and more weight. For that reason, commercial first flush devices are usually supported from the ground as well as being attached to the wall. See the schematics below for how commercial first flush diverters are usually installed. It is possible to manifold a number of first flush devices together to achieve the amount of capacity required.
