The Rainwater Harvesting Design Specification is a joint project between Urban Water Cycle Solutions and RHAA (Rainwater Harvesting Association of Australia). It brings together years of research on rainwater harvesting systems with Australian Standards and Industry expertise. It is not intended to be a replacement for HB230, Australian Standards or the Plumbing Code (see below) but an easy to use, common sense document that can be understood by developers, builders, plumbers, and the home owner.
The Specification was written to cover the majority of rainwater harvesting installations, being an above ground tank in a house situation with mains supply with rainwater harvesting supplying water to toilets, washing machine, hot water, and garden tap and using a mains water bypass device. It does not claim to be an all-inclusive document but a concise design specification for general use. The scope of the document is national and acknowledges the specification is subject to state and local government requirements.
